X is a fictional character that first appeared in Mary Shelly’s novel. The creature is erroneously referred to as X but in novel it has no name.He is also variously referred to as a “creature,” “fiend,” “the demon,” “wretch,” “devil,” “thing,” “being,” and “ogre” in the novel.
In the novel, X is created in a laboratory by the combination of science and alchemy but gets freed immediately and wanders here and there in search of solace. Outside he finds a world full of hatred and malice towards him which makes the monster within him to surface.
